Aquarius Gold Mine


Description: Echo Bay Mines Ltd. has submitted a proposal to develop an open-pit gold mine and ore processing facility on its Aquarius property in northern Ontario. The property is in Macklem Township just east of Night Hawk Lake, 40 km east of Timmins.

Decision of the Minister of the Environment: On June 29, 2000, following a review of public comments and the environmental assessment report, the Minister concluded that the project is unlikely to cause significant adverse environmental effects and referred the project back to the responsible authority for appropriate next steps.
