Skidway Replacement at Main A Dieu Small Craft Harbour, Cape Breton County, NS
This is a non-designated project on federal lands or outside Canada. The listed authorities are responsible for the project assessment.
The proposed harbour improvements project at Main A Dieu SCH, Cape Breton County, will include the removal and replacement of a skidway. The new concrete skidway will be placed in the same location as the existing skidway, adjacent to the main wharf, but with an increased footprint of approximately 45 m2.
The concrete skidway, measuring approximately 29 m in length and 13 m wide, will be constructed from an elevation of -1.00 m to an elevation of + 2.95 m. At the seaward end of the skidway, rip rap will be placed level with the existing harbour bottom approximately 1.8 m from the end of the concrete skidway. On the existing harbour bottom, a layer of geotextile and clear stone will support the 3 cast-in-place and 5 precast concrete slabs. Rip rap will be placed at a 1:2 slope on top of a geotextile layer along the entire north side of the skidway.
