Upgrades to Range 8 - Garrison Wainwright

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project which involves improvements to the existing Range 8 facility at Garrison Wainwright. Construction is proposed for July to November 2022. Project activities include:

  • Vegetation and soil stripping
  • Re-grading of firing positions and bullet stops
  • Re-contouring of areas between firing positions
  • Screening of sand at bullet stops
  • Demolition and reconstruction of the sentry building
  • Installation of self-healing membrane liners at bullet stops
  • Removal and replacement of existing signs, stakes and range markers
  • Reestablishment of vegetation

March 28, 2022 – The public comment period on the project is closed. The Department of National Defence is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
