St. Mary River Irrigation District (SMRID) Upgrade Project

As part of their irrigation upgrade project, St. Mary River Irrigation District (SMRID) near Lethbridge Alberta, proposes to install approximately 0.8 km of new water pipeline through Agriculture and Agri-Food Lethbridge Research and Development Center lands.  

The project includes the excavation and removal of a concrete liner associated within an existing irrigation canal, installing new a 20 cm PVC irrigation pipe and removing the existing access road which includes site restoration as required.

The public comment period on the project is closed. Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
