Kispiox Band, IR1  – TELUS telecommunication tower – Public Comments Invited

Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed TELUS telecommunication tower on Kispiox 1 is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.

The Proposed Project

TELUS is seeking a s.28(2) permit from Indigenous Services Canada to build a new 30m telecommunication tower within a ~200 m2 footprint on cleared lands on Kispiox 1.   

Key features of the project include:

  • construction of concrete foundations around the tower footings
  • Installation of underground or overhead power and communication lines
  • Installation of the tower and accessories such as microwaves, antennas, and a lightning rod
  • construction of a 12mx15m chain link fence
