Lameque Breakwater and Floating Wavebreak Installation

The proposal project will include the construction of a new breakwater running perpendicular to wharf structure 411 at Lamèque Harbour. The new breakwater will be comprised of core, filter and armour stone and will be constructed to a height of 4.0m above sea level at a slope of 1.5:1. The new breakwater will measure approximately 38 m wide by 120 m long, for a total footprint of approximately 4500 m². Six 12 m long floating wavebreaks will also be installed perpendicular to existing breakwater structure 602 on the north side of the harbour property. The total length of the wavebreaks will be approximately 75 m. The wavebreaks will be anchored to the bottom of the harbour with concrete blocks.

Notice of Determination

December 14th, 2022 – Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Small Craft Harbours has issued its Notice of Determination after evaluation of the project Lameque Breakwater and Floating Wavebreak Installation and has determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects with mitigation measures as outlined in their evaluation and can therefore proceed.
