Barn Foundation Rehabilitation

A barn with a character-defining element of a cultural landscape within RNUP is in danger of collapse ad needs immediate repair. Repairs include:

1. Installation of shoring and underpinning in sections to remove the existing stone foundation,
2. Retention of existing stone for re-use,
3. Construction of a new, poured concrete foundation wall with footings below the frost line – the foundation wall will be insulated and waterproofed below grade,
4. New thermally-broken windows will be provided that match the proportions/location of the existing windows,
5. The existing stone that was retained will be split and reset at the exterior face of the concrete foundation wall,
6. The proposed work maintains the appearance of the original barn but provides a structurally stable foundation that will allow for future work to meet operational goals.
