S&R Sawmills - D-Mill Urgent Bank Stabilization

S&R Sawmills proposes to install a sheet pile wall to minimize potential future erosion of the embankment into the Fraser River. This includes excavating a keyway for the sheet pile wall, removing existing riprap and vegetation, installing the sheet pile wall, and backfilling using 10 kilogram class riprap to build up the existing slope protection material, and fill voids created during the sheet pile installation. No removal or disturbance of native sediment will occur during the excavation of the keyway. The retaining wall will extend 30 metres along the slope and will consist of approximately 24 pairs of 9 metre (or greater) AZ13 steel sheet piles and will penetrate the ground to a depth of approximately 4.5 metres, extending 1.5 metres above ground. The works will be conducted in the dry (above the water level) with land-based equipment such as a crawler-crane, an excavator, and a vibratory hammer. The project is proposed to occur during the least-risk work window of June 16 to February 28. The works are expected to take approximately 1 week to complete.
