Floating Wharf Replacement and Installation at Stuart Town Small Craft Harbour, Stuart Town, Charlotte County, New Brunswick

The proposed Project at Stuart Town Small Craft Harbour in Deer Island, New Brunswick involves the replacement and installation of floating wharves at the harbour, including installation of two steel piles adjacent to wharf #1. Existing piles will be extracted or cut at ground level and left in place. The existing floating wharves will be removed and disposed of in an approved manner. The existing gangway will be reconnected to the new floating wharves once the work is completed. In total there will be six new floating wharves installed; one Type 1 wharf and five Type 2 wharves. The Type 1 wharf will be approximate 18 m by 5 m with timber decking. The Type 2 wharves will be approximately 15 m by 3 m and constructed with timber decking.

November 19, 2020 – The public comment period on the project is closed. Fisheries and Oceans Canada- Small Craft Harbours is considering comments received to date to inform its determination on whether carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

 

Notice of Determination

November 19, 2020 Fisheries and Oceans Canada- Small Craft Harbours has issued its Notice of Determination after evaluation of the floating wharf replacement and installation at Stuart Town DFO-SCH, NB, and has determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects with mitigation measures as outlined in their evaluation and can therefore proceed.
