Work Modification to the anchoring system of the floating docks at Cap-aux-Meules fishing harbor
The Small Craft Harbours Branch of Fisheries and Oceans Canada proposes to undertake work modification to the anchoring system of the floating docks at Cap-aux-Meules fishing harbor in the Magdalen Islands, in the Québec province.
The work includes, but is not limited to, the following :
- The partial demolition of the stone protection and the main breakwater and the recovery of the existing anchor blocks and floating docks.
- The removal from the floating docks and blocks of the components of the existing anchoring system.
- The manufacture of galvanized steel components for a new fastening system with strong arms.
- The installation of new components on floating docks and blocks.
- The reinstallation of the recovered anchor blocks in the stone protection and the breakwater.
- The reinstallation of the recovered floating docks and the required adjustments.
- The construction of cribs used as a gangway base in order to access floating dock lines.
- The installation of empty conduits for future power supply to the floating dock lines.
- The disposal of demolition materials.

April 1st, 2020 – Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Transport Canada have determined that the proposed project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Mitigation measures will be implemented for the following: air, water.
Therefore, Fisheries and Oceans Canada may carry out the project and Transport Canada can exercise its powers to enable the project to be carried out.
