Poplar River First Nation School
Indigenous Services Canada (ISC), in partnership with the Poplar River First Nation (PRFN), are proposing to construct a new K-12 school and associated sporting/recreational facilities within the PRFN community on Indian Reserve (IR. 16) land (the Project). Once completed, the school will be owned and operated by the PRFN. The Project is generally located on the east side of the PRFN community and approximately 150 m from adjacent residences and the main community road (see Attachment A).
Coordinates of the project location are: 618134.56E, 5873038.47N (UTM Zone 14U)
The Project will require clearing an area of approximately 5 hectares of forest within Indian Reservation land (IR. 16) adjacent to the existing community of the Poplar River First Nation. The school will consist of a reinforced concrete foundation with piles to bedrock, a steel framed superstructure with concrete block and steel stud infill walls, finished with masonry and metal cladding and modified bitumen roof. NDL Construction was awarded the design-build contract to complete the architecture and engineering
design of the school and to lead its construction planning and delivery.
Number Ten Architecture Group is responsible for the design component of this project and, Dillon Consulting Ltd. is providing environmental and civil engineering services in support of Number Ten Architecture Group.
