Hunters Lake Trail Rehabilitation
Hunters Lake is a one way trail that incorporates various landscape features including jack pine ridges, aspen forest and aquatic ecosytems. During a large fire that burnt throught the area in 2018, heavy equipment was brought in to create fire breaks and the trail sustained major damage. A reroute was cut around a waterbody; trees were felled and left on site causing a public safety hazard. The project involves bringing in a heavy duty mulcher to mulch the trees on site at the trail reroute location as well as to the end of the trail, where regrowth is now too heavy to be mown with traditional equipment. Aggregate (gravel) will be hauled into the site to build up a trail tread on the reroute and any other areas that need to be resurfaced. A culvert will be installed at a low spot on the trail.
