Couchiching Lock 42 and Bridge 56 Rehabilitation

Lock 42
The work involves installing cofferdam structures upstream and downstream of the lock, dewatering of the lock and approaches, removal of damaged concrete, concrete repair, landscaping upon project completion and related project activities such as creating staging areas and use of machinery. Lock work to take place in the fall/winter between navigation season - after the Thanksgiving weekend in October and prior to the Victoria Day weekend in May.

Bridge 56
The project is a complete replacement of the steel bridge structure, which spans the canal, and repairs to its concrete piers which are completely out of water. This work is also taking place in the fall/winter between navigation season as not to interfere with navigation through Lock 42.
