Fifteen Mile Stream proposed gold mine project

Hello,

I would like to submit my comments regarding the Fifteen Mile Stream proposed gold mine project.

I am opposed to this proposed gold mine. The area proposed is home to the endangered mainland moose, as well as eighty nine species of migratory bird and many species of lichen (including Nova Scotia's provincial lichen, the Blue Felt Lichen, another species at risk). Mainland moose in particular are facing extreme stress in Nova Scotia and the recovery plan for this species has not been fully implemented. The moose do not need additional stressors on their habitat and health.

This project also proposes significant impacts to wetlands and water tables, which may not recover for a hundred years. Given the estimated lifespan of the gold mine project being seven years, how can this be viewed as a 'fair trade'? Years and years of damage to the ecosystem (which may not recover and would cause the loss of much biodiversity), for what?

Please do not approve this mine.

Thank you,

Elizabeth
