Star-Orion South Diamond Mine Project

Projects that were undergoing a comprehensive study at the time the provisions of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 came into force will continue to follow the requirements of the former Act. Under the former Act, the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency is responsible for conducting the comprehensive study of this project.

Shore Gold Inc. and Fort à la Corne Joint Venture is proposing to construct, operate, maintain and eventually decommission an open-pit diamond mine, processing facilities and associated infrastructure in the Fort à la Corne Provincial Forest located approximately 60 km east of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. The proposed scope of project for the purposes of the federal environmental assessment includes the physical works and activities associated with the construction, operation and decommissioning of the following project components: stream crossings related to a proposed access corridor; on-site roadways and power/gas lines; site water management facilities that would result in the harmful alteration, disruption or destruction of fish habitat or impact navigation, including dewatering facilities and water diversion channels; ancillary features located on Indian reserve lands; and explosives mixing (factory) and storage (magazine) facilities.
