Rainy River Gold Project – Public Comments Invited

OTTAWA – September 4, 2012 – The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency must determine whether a federal environmental assessment is required pursuant to the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 for the proposed Rainy River Gold Project in Ontario. To assist it in making its decision, the Agency is seeking comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment.

Rainy River Resources Limited is proposing the construction, operation and decommissioning of an open-pit and underground gold mine. The proposed mine site is in the Township of Chapple, Ontario, approximately 65 kilometres northwest of Fort Frances.

The Agency will post a decision stating whether a federal environmental assessment is required on its website.
