Reasons for a Federal Assessment

On December 15, 2009, it was determined that an environmental assessment was required in relation to the project because the Parks Canada Agency considered taking action in relation to subsection 14(2) of the Historic Canals Regulations.

Project Description (as posted in the Notice of Commencement)

This application (site location Lot 17, Plan 143, City of Kawartha Lakes (former Township of Fenelon) on Sturgeon Lake) for shoreline works on the Trent Severn Waterway consists of the repairs to the boathouse foundation and crib dock.

Final Decision

A decision was taken on April 16, 2010 and was that the authority may exercise any power or perform any duty or function with respect to the project because, after taking into consideration the screening report and taking into account the implementation of appropriate mitigation measures, the authority is of the opinion that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
